The Directors of Bristol Credit Union (BCU) are looking for up to three people to join the Board to work on a voluntary basis to support the work of the Credit Union. This local savings and loans organisation aims to help local people borrow and save at fair rates and the role of the Board is to oversee the way in which the business of the Credit Union is managed.
The current Board draws upon a wide range of skills and experience to support the Senior Management Team of the Credit Union in delivering to members. Typical time commitment for Directors is around 12 -16 hours a month split between meetings and preparing for meetings. There is a monthly Board held on a Thursday evening with Board Committees meeting quarterly during the day on a Friday and an annual commitment of 3 Fridays between May and September for the strategic planning and board development activities. Board directors also assist the Credit Union on an ad hoc basis and this may involve some occasional weekend work.
Applications are particularly welcome from those who:
• Have operational risk management or HR experience or
• Work within a social enterprise, community based business or registered charity or
• Have experience working as the Secretary to a Board or Committee in the public, private or not-for profit sector
All applicants must either be existing members of BCU or eligible for membership through home or work location. You are invited to express an interest in the role prior to 6 November 2015 by emailing the Nominations Committee Chair email@example.com to arrange a conversation to talk through the role and receive an application form.
The deadline for submissions of CV and application form is Friday 20 November 2015 and all interviews will be held on Friday 27 November 2015. The timing of the application and interview process is to allow the take up of references and complete necessary registrations and notifications to members ahead of Bristol Credit Union AGM in February 2016.
