Itís Motherís Day on 26 March Ė a day dedicated to celebrating your mum and what makes her special. So before you panic buy another expensive bouquet, check out our 5 alternative ways you can treat your mum, without splashing lots of cash*.

1. Make a card
Impress your mum by getting personal with the obligatory Motherís Day card. Put her favourite poem or song lyric into a homemade card if you have lovely handwriting, or use an easy design template to make it frameworthy. Or why not get younger ones involved to make one of these sweet creations?
2. Time for tea?
Why not try making your own afternoon tea? Bake some scones , whip up some dainty sandwiches and donít forget to keep the tea (or something stronger) flowing. Make the table look pretty with some flowers and a nice table cloth and youíll rival anything a posh hotel can lay on.
3. Indulgence hamper
Fill a basket or gift bag with special but inexpensive treats. Ideas could include:
- Pampering treats, like mini bottles of bubble bath, moisturiser or a new nail polish
- A box of her favourite chocolates
- Bottle of wine
- Homemade hot chocolate mix
- RomCom DVD (with a box of tissues if itís a bit of a weepy)
4. The gift of sleep!
Give your mum a few extra hours in bed and sheíll feel like a new woman. Breakfast in bed would really top it off. Even her favourite cereal and toast could look extra- special on a tray with a bunch of her favourite flowers.
Take your mommaí out!
When was the last time you spent the day with your mum? Gather together the family for a walk, or a picnic Ė and take a camera to capture the day. If you have a bit more money to spend, there are lots of local restaurants and attractions running special Motherís Day offers, so itís worth keeping your eyes peeled for a deal.
